In the early morning hours of that chilly December morning a friend and I had turned onto the dirt road that led northward through Still-house hollow. Perhaps a mile off of the paved road we passed by a truck parked by the side of the road.  The truck's motor was idling and the  parking lights were on.  Thinking that this was just another hunter waiting to go to his deer stand we continued deeper into the recesses of the woods toward "high Georgia".  Several miles later we reached the end of the road and turned around. 

On the way back, at the top of the ridge that overlooked Still-house hollow we saw a brilliant white light descending rapidly from the clear night sky.  It was beautiful.  It looked much like a star, and so bright, but the light was contained to itself and and did not light up the dark forest below .

Immediately I killed the motor and shut off the lights of the truck and both of us got out.  The light's descent slowed and as we watched we said nothing...we were just spellbound. There was complete silence.The light seemed to float  and  then it moved across the opposite ridge just above the tops of the trees.  It then dipped out of site on the far side of the ridge.

Without speaking we jumped into the truck and raced down the dirt road in the direction  where the light had disappeared.  Just minutes later we came to a stop in front of the truck that we had passed on the way in. The headlights were now on and a man was standing in front of the truck. I recognized him as a local logger that was married to my great uncle's daughter.  We got out and I said "Did you see that light"?,  to which he replied "Boys, if you ever tell anyone this I  will say you are lying because I've been drinking...but i just saw a spaceship".  And I said " Where did it go"?  He turned and pointed in the direction that the light had gone.
